Season: There is a regular run of shows. Mainstage shows are performed by professional adult actors. A regional touring company and national touring company are also involved.

Classes: The academy includes winter and spring semester courses conducted one day a week for each class. The asges are from 4-16 and range in price of $150-$175. The XCelerated Theatre program is offered to Cyndi Taylor Krier Juvenile Correctional Treatment Center and Bexar County’s Juvenile Probation Department. The participants of this program form a theatre troupe and work in close proximaty to Magik Theatre mentors. Not only are troupe members engaged in hands on learning of theatre, but they are also challenged withother skills important to everyday life. For example, this program teaches conflict resolution and anger management.

Summer Camps: There are 2 week to 4 week sessions in price ranging $340-$530)

Finance: Tuition and donations.

Kids Who Care, Inc. Musical Theatre

Season: There are touring productions. Classical as well as original musicals are performed throughout the year.

Classes: KWC offers fall and spring classes for grades 1-12. The cost ranges from $280-$325+. KWC also offeres teacher in-service training to theatre educators. KWC can provide in-school workshops.

Summer Camps: There are camps offered, and some require auditions.

Finance: KWC is financed through tuition, fundraisers, and donations.

-Hope Scholarships are available for students in the program. Other scholarships are offered.
-KWC focuses heavily on orginal musicals as well.

Junior Players

"The mission of Junior Players is to encourage intellectual growth, mental well being and the development of life skills in the youth of North Texas through mentoring, creative expression, and participation in dramatic and arts activities."


Season: There is not a regular season.

Classes: There many, many after school programs offered in many, many locations in the Dallas area. These range in ages 6-14. Each class is only one day a week and are 'discoveries' of different topics for diffent locations. For example, the Churchill Recreation Center offers a 'Discover Theatre' class on Mondays only. Junior Players programs are also available to Dallas-area school, recreation centers, and community centers.

Summer Camps: Summer camps are also completely free to the participants. Currently, there are 2 to choose from: Discover Shakespeare and Discover Theatre. These range in ages from 7-15.

Finance: Junior Players operates from donations to the program. Junior Players also holds and annual auction to fundraise.

-All of the Junior Players programs are absolutely FREE to participants who follow the mission statement.
-Junior players provides and Employment/Internship application.
-Opportunities for high school playwrites to submit work in a contest hosted by Junior Players and Kitchen Dog Theatre.

"At kidsActing we provide a supportive, fun environment where young people can be creative, expressive and improve communication skills- traits that improve performance in school and enhance one's life. We feel the process of learning and striving for personal, individual excellence is important in developing self-confidence. Each class is age-appropriate; though the description of a class is the same for all age groups, the level of work changes depending on the age of the class so students are encouraged and challenged. ArtsView Childrens' Theatre

ArtsView Children's Theatre: Changing lives through education, outreach, and the performing arts!
Season: There is a complete season with casts of children to adults.

Classes: Workshops are half to full days of instruction on a specific interest of theatre. There is a $30 fee. Academy is an intensive 2 weeks of training for a public performance. The tuition ranges from $90-180. There are classes for acting or technical emphasises.

Summer Camps: The workshops and academies are offered year round.

-ArtsView offers fee assistance for workshops, etc.
-Audition information is highly detailed. Children and adults may audition.

Express Childrens' Theatre

Express Children’s Theatre is Houston’s oldest and largest performing and arts education organization dedicated specifically to children and families. We are celebrating our 19th Season of creating and presenting professional, culturally diverse performing arts designed to entertain and educate."


Season: The season shows are performed by adults.

Classes: Express does offer Saturday Workshops, but not classes on a large scale. A program called "Theatre from the Core" is offered after school where children use other subjects, such as math and geography, to research and create their own play to perform. Express works inconjunciton with schools to design 6 week cycles of programs to be intergrated into curriculum. Express also facilitates Artists Resdencies where master classes are held for training students, faculty, and professionals in various apsects of theatre.

Summer Camps: Express offers 2 three week summer sessions in which the whole session is dedicated to a variety of theatre techniques rather than a focus on one. At the end of each session there is a showcase.

Finance: Express does not offer financial backing in great detail, but I assume it is through ticket sales, donations, and fees of services.

Extra Notes:
-Express is dedicated to inclusion. There are at least 2 productions which are bilingual, and Express has been able to have shadowed performances for the hard of hearing and deaf.

Dallas Childrens' Theatre at Rosewood Center

"As the only major organization in Dallas focusing solely on youth and family theater, DCT builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early appreciation of literature, art and the performing arts in tomorrow’s artists and patrons."


Season: There is a regular season; however, most of the shows are professional adult performers. Sometimes there are opportunities for children. DCT offers a touring production, but you must be 18 years or older to participate.

Classes: DCT offer semester classes; however, there is no information available since registration is complete. There are mini-sessions, one class time per week, available during semester classes. DCT provides after school drama programs to schools held at the school itself. Schools may also participate in Dramashops, a workshop done after a class sees a DTC production. It is $80 for each Dramashop of 25-30 who will participate in hands-on activities, which emphasizes important themes from the play. There are also teacher workshops offered for teachers to learn improv and multi-sensoryapproaches to learning.

Summer Camps: A variety of classes in acting and musical emphasises are offered. Prices range from $70-$550 with ages 4-18.

Finance: DCT relies on donations and less than 50% of their revenue on ticket sales. There are various ways of donating to this organization.

-DCT was rated by TIME magazine as one of the top 5 theatres in the U.S.A. performing for youth.
-There are intern programs available for production, adminastration, and education positions.
